Fruit is one of the simple pleasures of life in China. I have more favorite fruits now than there were fruits that I ate in America. Pomelos, pingguoli, kumquats, mandarins, how I love thee. And strawberries, bananas, kiwis, pineapple are all so cheap. I had a huge bowl of strawberries and two bananas for breakfast; I paid 6 kuai (90 cents) and got change back.
Another simple pleasure of living in China is the fact that it’s entirely possible to eat for under a dollar. Fried egg and tomato with hand-pulled noodles (large): 7 yuan, or $1. It made an excellent dinner tonight.
I’m ready for it to stop raining here. I have to change pants between every trip outside, and it’s really getting old.
The good news is, it’s great TV-watching weather. I caught up on The Office today and am starting Freaks and Geeks. Ugh.
